High school teachers visit
2023-2024 is the Year of Physics for CNRS. As part of the event, local high school teachers were visiting the lab on 24 January 2024.
2023-2024 is the Year of Physics for CNRS. Our hosting facility, the Chevreul Institute welcomed around twenty secondary school teachers on Wednesday January 24 for a tour of several research platforms in the Chevreul building. The visit was part of a training day organized by CNRS Hauts-de-France and the Rectorat de la région académique Hauts-de-France. In the morning, three lectures were given, and the teachers then spent the afternoon to explore three research platforms.
The HotCore project was part of the visit, with demonstrations in our High Pressure Laboratory. The visit was also the opportunity to discover how geophysics research projects are conducted at large-scale international facilities such as synchrotrons or free-electron lasers and how the work is planned around multi-year projects. This exchange was rich in questions and discussions, and enabled teachers to gain a better understanding of the organization and day-to-day workings of research, as well as the various associated professions, in order to support students in their career choices.
