The 3.4 km long European XFEL is the world's largest X-ray laser. It can generate up to 27 000 X-ray flashes of less than 100 femtoseconds per second, with a peak brilliance a billion times higher than that of the best conventional X-ray sources. In HotCores, we use the European XFEL to probe the physical properties of iron and iron alloys at Earth and planetary cores conditions.

The 2026 EuXFEL User Meeting is held 26-30 January 2026 in DESY (Hamburg) and the European XFEL (Schenefeld) in Germany. The European XFEL User Organization Executive Committee (UOEC) awards Poster Prizes to posters presented at the Users’ Meeting about exciting research performed with radiation from European XFEL and this year the winner is .... Hélène Ginestet, who received the prize for her poster with the title „Iron at extreme conditions at the EuXFEL: static and dynamic experiments“.

Congratulations!
